1 of 7 Blogpadozzle: Captivate

So, I have been on Christmas break for a little over 3 days, and have already managed to slack off terribly…. I totally forgot to add my first blog post of my promised 7 days of blogs; so today I am going to add two!

Author--> Carrie Need

Review--> 5/5

Release Date--> December 22nd 2009

Product Description from Amazon.ca

Zara and her friends knew they hadn't solved the pixie problem for good. Far from it. The king's needs grow deeper every day he's stuck in captivity, while his control over his people gets weaker. It's made him vulnerable. And now there's a new king in town.

A turf war is imminent, since the new pixie king, Astley, is moving in quickly. Nick nearly killed him in the woods on day one, but Zara came to his rescue. Astley swears that he and Zara are destined to be together, that he's one of the good guys. Nick isn't buying it, though Zara isn't as sure -- despite herself, she wants to trust the new king. But it's a lot more than her relationship with Nick that is at stake. It's her life -- and his.

Review;

Captivate is a very exciting and well wrote sequel to the novel Need. I read Need earlier this summer and I devoured it in a little over a day, this being said I was reading between customers at work. However, when I finally got my hands on Captivate (lucky me my local chapters had it on the shelves two days early!!!) I ate up this delicious fairy novel in little over two hours!!! It’s only in the 200’s page wise, but still I was pretty proud of myself!

I didn’t know if I was going to like this book as much as the first installment, cause that’s usually how it works for me, but daresay I think I liked this one more…. One thing that always stands out for me in YA novels, which I think many readers would agree with me on, is the “budding” romance that is always evident in series and I absolutely ADORE the Nick-Zara relationship. It’s a little PG 13 in the first novel but the steam-meter spikes up a little in Captivate.

One thing I hate about some reviewers is that they give away key plot details, so that’s something I strive hard to NEVER do. I will say however that the plot in this book really surprised me! I didn’t think Carrie Jones would have the guts to write a couple major plot derails that Captivate delivers. I had to stop myself from jumping up and down, because you hardly ever see writers follow through with the threat of such a major change of events. It Shall make the third installment very interesting, mark my words!!

I eagerly awaited Captivate and was not disappointed at all, if you’re a lover of YA supernatural plus romances, I would most definitely recommend Carrie Jones Fairy series!
